DVB World 2024 SPEAKERS
The venue
We’ve found another gem of a venue for DVB World 2024. The smartvillage Bogenhausen isn’t yet widely known, even to those based in Munich, but it’s a friendly, stimulating environment in which to meet and exchange. We love the colourful design, the flexible spaces and the young, fresh feel to the entire building.
It’s the perfect venue for an event that likes to do things differently!
DVB World 2024 ExhibitION
The exhibition area, in the Barcelona Room, will be open throughout DVB World 2024, from 12:00 to 18:00 on Tuesday 19 March, and from 09:00 to 17:30 on Wednesday 20 March.
The award winning “German DVB-I Pilot” will show the current status of its proof-of-concept, where Phase 2 addresses requirements to enable a market launch of DVB-I in Germany. The pilot partners are: ARD, Bayerische Medien Technik, Dolby, DVB, EBU, Fraunhofer FOKUS, LG, Media Broadcast, MIT-xperts, OnScreen Publishing, ProSiebenSat.1 Media, rbb, RTL Deutschland, SES, Sofia Digital, Sony, TARA Systems, TP Vision, Vestel, WDR and ZDF.
An additional demo shows a live implementation of ADB2 in a DVB/HbbTV context on a smart TV, demonstrating the launch of German broadcaster HbbTV apps via audio watermarking signalling, an alternative method for the delivery of HbbTV and DVB-TA signalling from broadcasters to receivers, where linear broadcast TV reaches the TV set over HDMI from a STB or HDMI-stick.
DVB-S2X @ EASii IC: Enabling broadband data via satellite
EASii IC is a fabless company that develops digital, analogue, mixed and RF integrated circuits, as well as designing PCBs and FPGAs. At DVB World 2024, EASii IC will demonstrate its DVB-S2X modem, Oxford-2, which is capable of 500Mbaud in the downlink with over 1Gbit per second sustained throughput. The modem includes a return channel modulator. Both modulator and demodulator are beam hopping capable. EASii IC will also exhibit the ESA sponsored HTS Free Hopper programme, which is tasked with building a beam-hopping test and demonstration platform.
For 50 years, InterDigital has been inventing foundational wireless and video technologies that have become essential to daily life and enable the next generation of connected ecosystems. Demonstrations of Volumetric Video and Film Grain Synthesis will be presented at DVB World 2024.
One of the main forces behind the drive towards DVB-I deployment in Italy, broadcast group Mediaset is bringing a live demonstration of the Italian DVB-I Market Trial to DVB World 2024, along with a view of the parallel ongoing proof-of-concept that is being used to test potential future features.
At DVB World 2024, Peng Cheng Laboratory will demonstrate DVB-I, showing SMT streaming with Multiview content from CCTV and Migu, plus AVS3 video/audio streams running on a HiSilicon/Bohua plug-in set-top box. Located in Shenzhen, China, PCL is a scientific research institution established in 2018 and committed to pursuing breakthroughs in the three research directions – communication, network, and intelligence.
Qualcomm and Rohde & Schwarz will show the world’s first standards-conforming demo of 5G Broadcast integrated into the DVB-I service framework on a commercial smartphone. 5G Broadcast transmissions from the Ismaning/Munich broadcast tower are added as service instance to a DVB-I service list and the DVB-I client is updated to select services included in the 5G Broadcast signals. The 5G Broadcast signals will also be integrated in the service list of the German DVB-I Pilot (see above), whereby the instances for 5G Broadcast get highest priority and will hence be selected by the 5G Broadcast capable receivers, but ignored by regular TV sets or smartphones.
DVB-I and DVB-NIP @ SES: Driving Innovation for the Future of Broadcasting
In the context of the DVB-NIP V&V (verification & validation) process, SES developed a complete end-to-end DVB-NIP chain. The backend of this chain is now running on two live transponders at SES’s core 19.2E position. The reception part of the chain will be shown at DVB World, receiving DVB-I Service Lists via broadcast together with live and offline DVB-NIP content being received on standard DVB-I clients.
Following on from the 2023 edition of DVB World, Allegro DVT and V-Nova will jointly present an optimized, ASIC-ready silicon IP decoder implementation for the Low Complexity Enhancement Video Coding (LCEVC) video coding standard.
